A personal word about Hammond organs. The B3 is a great axe to own. I have one myself and love it. If you are serious about playing & studying the box, consider that sonically most drawbar Hammonds sound similar with subtle variations from model to model. In some cases changes are more apparent in the cosmetic cabinet design than the sound of the organ. Some Hammond organs may be considered superior to the B3. Example: the RT has 32 pedals not 25. The BC has 2 tone wheel generators not 1. The A series, identical to the B3, has a Hammond spring reverb & 3 built in 12" speakers. The CX2000 has MIDI, a built in Leslie speaker, & the lowest drawbar goes all the down unlike the B3. My point is- don't deny yourself the experience to play because of preconceived notions. The B3 is just one offspring of a large talented family. Never met a drawbar organ I didn't like. |
